Snug Tiers
31 May 2026
There was a major bushfire on the Snug Tiers in late January 2025. The post-fire regeneration is botanically interesting and is progressing nicely after 16 months. While the main objective of this walk was to see how the regeneration is progressing on the burned plateau, there is also a lovely variety of vegetation on the moist south-facing hillside that you have to climb to get there - lots of Richea dracophylla among others (but not flowering at this time). That climb is up a 4WD road that ascends a couple of hundred metres over 2 km.
We met in Margate about 10:00 am.
