Size:  Very variable shrub or small tree, 2-10m H, 2-5 m W.
 Leaves: Leathery, narrow, with several longitudinal veins. Variable in size, 2-15 cm long and 1-3.5 cm broad.
 Flowers: Yellow, in spikes which are shorter than the leaves. 
 Flowering Time: Spring.
 Fruit: Long narrow pod with thickened margins.
Habitat/distribution: Very widespread and common in moist areas from sea level to high altitudes.
Other notes: Hardy and quick growing. Propagate from seed.
